Huatulco the unknown jewel of Mexicos pacific coast.

After the big succsess in Cancun, the mexican government planned an equivalent on the pacific coast. The result was Bahia de Huatulco.

The small fishing village, a small harbour for the pirates of the 16 th century was declared a prime tourist project in 1980.

Most of the coast line was declared a natural preserved area and all buildings are subject to tough guidelines and restrictions.

You wont find huge hotels here like in Cancun or other tourist places in Mexico. All buildings have to be related to the so called " Oaxaca style of buildings "

Huatulco - today - :

The village of Huatulco, really called Santa Cruz de Huatulco has around 1000 inhabitants.

Several beautiful beach coves were turned by the mexican tourist departement into a small tourist center with hotels of the upper price range.

Several beaches offer water sports of all kinds.

Bahias de Huatulco in short:

The beaches of Huatulco are located 50 km south of Puerto Angel in the departement of the ancient town of Oaxaca. Stretching over the length of 50 km there are 9 coves with 36 sandy beaches, with only 3 of them really commercialized ( guck mal das Wort nach ob es richtig ist )

Tangolunda, Chahue and Santa Cruz are ideal for watersports and windsurfing.

Some of the coves until today can only be reached by boat.

Bahia de Santa Cruz, with several beaches and meeting point for the divers.

Bahia de Santa Cruz with several underwater gardens is a paradise for divers.\

Located directly in front of the beach is a 200 m long and 40 m wide coral reef with over 800 animal and plan species.

Bahia de Chachacual. To be reached by boat, with tropical plants and mangroves stretching onto the beach.

Bahia de Tangolunda Touristic with some hotels, restaurants and a small shopping center.


Bahia de Conejos Here you can rent horses and explore the valley. The cove is liked by deep sea fishing fans and divers.
